Recent World of Warcraft News

  • Fire Festival Begins - Players will have the chance to participate in the Fire Festival Activities from June 21st through July 5th. So enjoy these new quests, and one new boss, Lord Ahune while you can!
  • Season 4 Begins!!! - After a few weeks of players having access to the highest level gear in the game from Kil'jaeden Blizzard decided to release all the new gear that comes with Season 4! Players should be extremely excited for this new season, as the level of gear is a significant increase for PvP and PvE purposes. I know I can't wait to spend my saved arena points on some awesome new gear. However I am sad to surrender my 2,000 rating which I will have to build up again!
  • No Beta testers Yet! - Blizzard has not opened up Wrath of the Lich King for beta testers yet. So if you are receiving e-mails guaranteeing you will get into the beta they are a scam, and plan to steal your account! Be aware, and remember that Blizzard will never ask you for your account details such as your password, EVER!
  • Patch 2.4.3 available on the PTR - Blizzard has launched 2.4.3 to the PTR, so get over and transfer your characters on and start practicing the new boss Lord Ahune for the Fire Festival.
  • Magister's Terrace Nerfed -Players will find most of the trash to be significantly easier now. Most importantly the Glaive Throw stun was removed, along with reduced damage output from nearly every dangerous trash mob found inside Magister's Terrace. Some boss fights were also nerfed, Vexallus was actually brought down to what I think is on par with his place in the dungeon. The Princess Delrissa fight was also nerfed by lowering the damage of the rogue and warrior, so this fight should be cake now as they were the only dangerous ones anyway!
  • Eredar Twins Loot Increased - Now the Eredar twins will drop the increased loot no matter which order you kill them in. So happy sunmoting!!!
  • Raid Instance Summoning Bug Fixed - Players can now be summoned to a raid instance from a heroic dungeon. This will be a nice feature for those just wrapping up a daily heroic when the raid is starting.
  • Curse of Elements / Shadows Changes in 2.4.3 - Curse of Shadows has been removed and Curse of Elements now includes damage increases for Arcane and Shadow damage also. This will reduce the stigma of having to bring 3 to 4 warlocks to each and every raid!
  • Haris Pilton Bag and Jewelry Seller Extraordinaire in 2.4.3! - You have got to love Blizzard's sense of humor, and their willingness to give players what they ask for. Haris Pilton will offer players the right to buy 22 slot bags, albeit for a hefty price of 1,200 gold. This is another measure to pull gold out of the highly inflated economy, since they were not quite prepared for the huge influx of gold the daily quests would yield. I know I have 4,800 gold waiting to buy 4 of these for my druid!!! This is not a limited supply item either, so start saving right away!! They are BoE, so the really rich players can buy them for their bank alts too!

Maple Story Chaos Scrolls Tested

So I had some extra mesos to burn and decided to try out the new Chaos Scrolls in Maple Story that were introduced in v0.56 on GMS.

Luckily for me the scroll worked, sorta.

http://www.mmoexchange.com/images/ChaosAfter.jpg

As you can see the scroll did work, maple leaf over my head, BUT the scroll had negative effects on the FaceStompers.

The rumor had been that it can add or subtract 1 3 or 5 stats total but in this example we can plainly see that it subtracted 8 stats total so that rumor has been proven false.

Now the big question is whether or not it can ADD 8 stats total! That would be some awesome items if it can.

World of Warcraft Botting Crackdown

It looks like Blizzard has taken the ban hammer out and struck down as many botters as they could. Initial reports show that they did not use the usual Warden update but instead loaded some code in a recent patch to allow them to detect who was using bots and who was not.

Reading the message boards at the popular bot sites it looks like they figured out how they did it and promise to be more vigilant in future patches to look for this kind of sneakiness from Blizzard.

It does not look like this has affected most of our suppliers as we are still filling orders at a blazing rate of less than 1 hour for over 95% of the orders on GamerTex.com and its affiliates.

World of Warcraft Updates

Just some information I ran across I thought I would pass along:

  • Epic Gems Only 10 Badges - When Proudmoore reached Phase 4 of the Shattered Sun offensive, the epic gems became viewable on the Armory. For right now it looks like the cost of the epic gems has been reduced from 15 to 10 Badges. This is not confirmed on live servers, and you should wait to get overly excited until Proudmoore or another server close behind them finishes the Alchemy lab and can buy the gems.
  • Wrath of the Lich King: Alpha Testing - Blizzard began Alpha testing for the expansion this past week. Alpha testing only includes blizzard employees for the most part, and all participating members have had to sign a Non-disclosure Agreement. It is extremely doubtful we will even get a single screenshot leak from Alpha testing. We will keep you informed on beta testing, it should be coming sometime in the near future!
  • Agamath, The First Gate Now Open - Blizzard opened up the first gate inside Sunwell Plateau, this gives players access to a new boss called the Twin Eredar. Nihilum registered the world first kill earlier this week, with Premonition registering the US first kill the very next day. Congratulations to both guilds!
  • Onyxia Attunement will not be Removed - Players will have to keep killing Rend and Drakkisath for their Onyxia Attunement, Blizzard stated this week they have no intentions of changing the requirements for this Raid encounter. Many players now use this encounter as a way to make some extra gold each week, and since the quest line is such a pain they were hoping for a change to the attunement.
  • Thori'dal, the Stars Fury Preview - This is the Legendary bow that will presumably drop from Kil'jaeden in the Sunwell Plateau. It looks as if the arrows you shoot will have a glowing effect that is really cool. You can check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKbB7BrdFOE.
  • Arena Tournament Realms Bug - It seems that Blizzard forgot to allow Tauren Druids to train Cure Poison on the Tournament Realms. They also said that it will not be fixed for quite some time, if it is fixed at all. This is a slight nerf, but druids will mainly use Abolish Poison anyway in most cases. However it is nice to Abolish then Cure Poison spam to strip off poisons really fast.
  • Season 4 Rating Requirements - It was also discovered this week by looking through the Armory that Season 4 Shoulders will require a 2200 Personal rating. I have talked to a lot of the top arena players and have not found a single person who thinks this is a reasonable requirement. In fact, one player stated that he received Gladiator with a 2306 rating. Also if you look at the top 20 teams in each battlegroup for 5v5 they are barely over the 2200 rating! So Blizzard only wants the top 20 teams to get shoulders, expect this to get lowered before season 4 is released.

Maples Story Adds 4th Job

Los Angeles, CA - January 23, 2007 - Nexon America Inc., is delivering a new dimension for hardcore MapleStory players with the addition of a fourth job, which launched today. The 4th Job represents an elite tier which can only be reached through completion of rigorous class requirements demanded by a character's three previous jobs. Nexon America recognizes the importance of rewarding and involving its most dedicated players and only a small sample of the over five million MapleStory players will have reached a high enough level to achieve the 4th Job, which begins this week. But everyone will appreciate the multitude of enhancements made to the user interface.

MapleStory is largely celebrated for its lively and energetic community, evidenced by the millions of quirky and colorful characters, abundant guilds, comical YouTube manifestations of Nexon's MapleStory commercials, and a hyperactive forum complete with users who post photos of self-concocted MapleStory-themed desserts and costumes among their many posts. It's MapleStory's compelling and deep game play which drives new and existing players to the MapleWorld. The addition of the 4th Job provides further depth to an already intricate and complex game.

Players will appreciate a new meter, which will show how many hit points it will take to defeat an enemy. Items will also be easier to use with the automatic item organizer and a new world map should help Maplers have a better sense of direction while traveling the heavily-populated MapleWorld.

Also being introduced with the 4th Job update is the town of Leafre, a region dedicated to experienced (Level 100+) MapleStory players. At Leafre, players can find new upgrades for some of the game's more powerful weapons and also party with other elite players. MapleStory's most fearsome monsters will be found in the region as well, including the infamous Horntail, a monster renowned for its ability to defeat brave Maplers. Leafre offers a home and hunting ground for players in search of new friends and challenges.
